MEDAN - North Sumatra Province National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has arrested several students and the public who indulged in marijuana-type drugs at the University of North Sumatra (USU) Campus at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB).

The head of the North Sumatra BNN, Brigadier General Toga Panjaitan, said in his presentation that the raids began with community reports. In the raid, BNN arrested 47 people from 2 different locations.

From the results of the raid, BNN secured 118 small packages of ready-to-use marijuana weighing 1.8 grams. The total evidence seized was 508.6 grams of marijuana.

"A total of 508.6 grams, we conducted an interrogation, 265 grams belonged to the suspect JHS, he is an alumnus of the USU FIB. According to JHS, he got the item from a woman with the initials DM. We gave chase, Sunday morning, we arrested DM with FAY's male friend", said Brigadier General Toga.

"While the evidence weighing 243.6 grams has not been recognized. The list of names of 31 suspects, 20 USU FIB students, 10 members of the public, and students from other universities, are from Unimed", he continued.

The three suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (1), Article 111 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 Article (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
