KPK Diligently Holds Enforcement, Novel Baswedan: Don't Be Fooled

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has recently taken action, starting from the hand arrest operation (OTT) for regional heads and service heads who received bribes.

The most recent is former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, who is suspected of giving bribes to handle cases.

However, this has received the spotlight of former KPK investigator Novel Baswedan. According to him, there are two ways to see if the handling of corruption cases is done well, namely that intellectual actors are entangled and state losses are withdrawn.

Thus, he reminded the public to continue to follow the development of corruption cases being investigated by the KPK.

"Don't be fooled when it's just handled and then considered finished," Novel said as quoted from his Twitter account @nazaqistha on Monday, October 4.

Moreover, if the handling of this case ends in providing protection to the main actors and no state losses are recovered.

For information, the KPK has been diligent in carrying out prosecutions. Most recently, the KPK named and detained 10 members of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, for the 2019-2024 period as suspects. They are suspected of accepting bribes related to the procurement of goods and services as well as the approval of the 2019 Regional Budget (APBD).

The determination of the suspect was carried out after finding sufficient evidence and various legal facts during the trial process with the defendant Ahmad Yani, et al.

"The KPK conducted an investigation and raised the status of this case to the investigative stage in September 2021 by announcing the suspect," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata at a press conference at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 30.

Those named as suspects are Indra Gani, Ishak Joharsah, Ari Yoca Setiadi, Ahmad Reo Kusuma, Marsito, and Mardiansyah. Furthermore, there are also Muhardi, Fitrianzah, Subahan, and Piardi. In addition, the KPK also appointed and detained former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin.

He is suspected of giving bribes to former anti-corruption commission investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju worth IDR 3.1 billion from an agreement of IDR 4 billion.

This bribe is suspected to be to secure himself and former General Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG) Aliza Gunado in the alleged corruption of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in Central Lampung.
