Anies Asks His Citizens To Ask All Their Families In WhatsApp Groups Whether They Have Been Vaccinated Or Not

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has a request for help to all Jakarta residents. Anies asked his residents to ask all their family members whether they had been vaccinated against COVID-19 or not.

"May I ask for help? Ask in WA (WhatsApp) the whole extended family group: is there an elderly family who has not been vaccinated?" Anies said in Anies Baswedan's Instagram account, Friday, October 1.

Anies also asked his residents to invite their families to be vaccinated. Because, according to Anies, vaccination is an effort to reduce the risk of worsening health conditions from COVID-19 transmission.

"Love them, invite them to vaccinate as long as there are no medical problems. Age is in God's hands, but the effort is mandatory. We carry out the effort: invite them to vaccinate," said Anies.

In his Instagram post, Anies also quoted an epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia, Pandu Riono. Pandu stated that all cases of COVID-19 death in Jakarta, from September 27 to 30, 2021, were people who had not been vaccinated.

"The good news is that the death rate in DKI is very low, and all those who died due to COVID-19 have not been vaccinated. This means that the high vaccination coverage, especially for the elderly, has succeeded in reducing deaths, hospitalization, and transmission. We hope to have zero deaths," said Pandu.

As is known, as of September 30, there were an additional 149 COVID-19 cases in Jakarta with 1.705 active cases. The recovered cases increased to 205 and the death cases increased to 3 cases. The positivity rate for a week in Jakarta is 0.9 percent.

Currently, the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in Jakarta has reached 10.455.315 people at the first dose and 7.744.545 at the second dose.
