Elderly In PIK Robbed: Followed, Head Beaten, Hands Tied And Forced By Perpetrators To Submit ATM PIN

JAKARTA - North Jakarta Metro Police investigators uncovered a robbery case carried out by suspect AA (46) against an elderly person with the initials D (63) at Pantai Indah Kapuk, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

"This is a disclosure of a violent theft case based on a police report at the Penjaringan Police. The victim is D, age 63", said North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Guruh Arif Darmawan, in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, September 30.

Guruh explained that the robbery was carried out by AA at the Gold Coast parking lot, Bukit Golf Mediterania, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, last Sunday, September 26 at around 17:45 WIB.

At that time the victim finished shopping and was about to go home with his vehicle. Suddenly, suspect AA entered the victim's car and hit the victim's head, then tied the victim's hands with raffia rope.

The perpetrators then took the victim's cell phone, ATM card, and IDR 500 thousand in cash. The perpetrator also forced the victim to provide the PIN of his ATM card, but the victim gave a fake PIN.

The victim then immediately reported to the nearest police station, namely the Penjaringan Police, who immediately followed up on the report.

According to Guruh, police from the Penjaringan Metro Police managed to secure suspect AA on Jalan Kapuk Raya last Wednesday. "After the interrogation, it is then developed whether there are other suspects", said Guruh.

After the arrest of AA, the police also arrested two stolen goods collectors identified with the initials AW (41) and DA (32).

The police then examined the three suspects and the three admitted that they had only committed the action once. Officers also conducted urine tests on the three suspects and the results were negative for drugs.

For his actions, the three suspects must now languish in the Penjaringan Metro Police Detention Center.

Suspect AA is charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning robbery with a maximum prison sentence of nine years, while the two interlocutors are charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning the detention of goods resulting from crimes with a maximum prison sentence of four years.
