BANDUNG - The government has increased the budget for the social assistance program (Bansos) in an effort to solve extreme poverty in five districts in West Java Province.

This was conveyed by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. According to him, the Government has committed to accelerating the resolution of extreme poverty in seven provinces by the end of 2021.

"Additional funding allocations for extreme poverty reduction through cash social assistance will be given to five priority districts for extreme poverty reduction in West Java Province for three months until the end of 2021," said the Vice President while chairing a meeting at the West Java Governor's Office, reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 29.

The addition of the budget allocation for cash social assistance, continued the Vice President, was an effort to restore the national economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vice President also appealed to the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, and the five regents of the priority areas to ensure that all community groups who are beneficiaries can receive the social assistance.

"Governors and regents should also strengthen the planning and budgeting of extreme poverty reduction programs in their respective Regional Budget (APBD), especially those related to the characteristics of the people in their respective regions," emphasized the Vice President.

The details of the extremely poor population in the five regencies are 90.480 people in Cianjur Regency, 93.480 people in Bandung Regency, 69.090 people in Kuningan Regency, 106.690 people in Indramayu Regency, and 106.780 people in Karawang Regency.
