PKS Sewot Luhut Appointed As Chair Of Gernas BBI, Jokowi Values Lack Of Trust In The Minister Of Political Parties

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKS DPP, Bukhori Yusuf, highlighted the appointment of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Chairman of the Proudly Made Indonesia National Movement Team (Gernas BBI) by President Joko Widodo.

According to him, giving Luhut a new task shows Jokowi lacks confidence in other ministers in the Advanced Indonesia cabinet.

"If we look at it, it seems that there is a lack of confidence in the ministers who come from the political parties that carry it themselves," said Bukhori to reporters, Tuesday, September 21.

Nevertheless, the member of Commission VIII of the DPR understands that President Jokowi has his own considerations in choosing Luhut, who is also still the Coordinator for handling COVID-19 for the Java and Bali regions.

"I can confirm that Jokowi must have his own considerations, why again LBP is always appointed in various tasks and authorities, the most recent of which is the team leader of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement," said Bukhori.

It is known, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan to be the chairman of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI). The appointment adds to the number of positions that Luhut has held.

This provision is contained in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 5 of 2021 concerning the Proud National Movement Team Made in Indonesia. The term of office is effective from September 8, 2021.

"The composition of the BBI Gernas Team consists of the Chairperson: Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment," wrote Article 2 of Presidential Decree 5/2021.

According to its duties, the BBI Gernas Team will be under and directly responsible to the president. His task is to achieve the Gernas BBI target in the form of increasing the number of MSMEs including creative economy players and entering the digital ecosystem.

Other targets include increasing the number of sales or purchases of local products, increasing people's purchasing power, expanding markets, access to capital, training, data collection, and accelerating the local economic cycle through local product spending. Then, it also stimulates the economy for MSMEs.

Another task is to harmonize the Gernas BBI program with public campaigns, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of targets, and reporting data on the progress of the work of Gernas BBI. In carrying out this task, all costs required by the team will be charged to the APBN, APBD, and other legal and non-binding sources in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

In carrying out his duties, Luhut will later be assisted by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo, and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso as Deputy Chairs.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, is the Daily Chair and the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki, is the Deputy Daily Chair.
