Megawati Reportedly Entered ICU, PDI Party: Last Night Gave Directions, This Morning Observing The Pandemic And International Politics

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI Party, Hasto Kristiyanto, denied reports that the PDI-P general chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, was in critical condition and being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Pertamina Central Hospital. According to him, Mega is currently in good health and he just met her this morning.

"Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri is in good health, energetic, and always enthusiastic", said Hasto in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, September 9.

"Last night at 21.00 WIB, Mrs. Mega was still giving directions regarding the party's populist program, and this morning, when I met her, Mrs. Mega also continued to observe the situation related to the pandemic and also international politics", he added.

Hasto even said that he even lost to the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia in terms of stamina and memory. Moreover, Mega is diligent in exercising and always living a healthy life.

"Mrs. Megawati is a politician who has a tradition of contemplation. Her habit of farming to provide oxygen for life is carried out with love. In addition, Mrs. Mega is also diligent in exercising. The tradition of living physically and mentally healthy, as well as thinking and feeling, makes in terms of memory and stamina, my level is below Mrs. Mega", he said.

Thus, he confirmed that the news that Megawati was currently being treated intensively was not true. Hasto also ensured that his cadres were always ready to face the attacks of slander and hoaxes aimed at the PDI-P and Megawati as the General Chair.

"Politics of building civilization is the central theme of the PDI-P. The entire movement of humanity and the party's people is not affected by various slander and hoaxes," he said.

Previously, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission XI, Hendrawan Supratikno, denied similar news. He said, currently many people spread false information about sick and dead people.

"Yesterday Mr. Habibie was said to have been rushed to the hospital, then Mike Tyson was reported to have died," said the senior PDI-P politician.

Similarly, the Deputy Secretary-General of the PDI-P, Sadarestuwati, also emphasized that the news was not true. "No, thank God you're in good health", said Sadarestu.

According to him, Megawati is in good health and at her residence on Teuku Umar Street, Menteng. "Just pray. God willing, she is always healthy", he concluded.
