PAN Spokesperson To Saipul Jamil: It's Right That Former Child Abuse Convicts Should Not Be Given A Stage In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) has urged television stations to stop all broadcasts featuring the singer Saipul Jamil at all events.

A young PAN spokesman, Aliah Sayuti, assessed that public figures with the status of ex-convicts of sexual abuse should not be given a stage to broadcast the celebration of freedom.

“While the victim was still struggling to let go of the trauma, Saipul Jamil was still invited to the television station and was greeted with joy on his day of freedom like a hero. It is appropriate that a former child molester convict should not be given a stage in the entertainment world in the country", said Aliah to reporters, Tuesday, September 7.

Moreover, he continued, public protests are also increasingly unstoppable. In which, the petition against Saipul Jamil's return to Television on Change.org has now been signed by 465,922 people.

“Remember, this is a public frequency where television has a moral responsibility to society. So listen to people's voices and give educational shows", she said.

Aliah reminded national television to pay attention to the large response of the people who have an interest in the cases carried out by Saipul Jamil.

"Before being caught in the case, Saipul Jamil was a public figure who often appeared on the small screen and played an important role in increasing the rating of his show. However, when Saipul Jamil is free, it does not mean that television can use his figure again to increase the rating", concluded Aliah.
