JAKARTA - Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, assessed that Agung Mozin's resignation from the Ummat Party was because the internal party was too dominated by the Amien Rais family.

It is known that the General Chair of the Ummat Party is Amien Rais' son-in-law, Ridho Rahmadi. Meanwhile, Amien Rais serves as chairman of the shura assembly of the Ummat Party.

Then, two of Amien Rais' children, Tasniem Fauzia Rais and Ahmad Hanafi Rais were included in the ranks of the founding figures of the party bearing the Shield of Tauhid logo. Tasniem is the wife of Ridho Rahmadi.

"Reading Mozin's letter gives the impression that there is a disapproval of the dominance of the Amien Rais family. Even Mozin's copy clearly emphasizes the relationship between the general chairman and Amien Rais, where the text is not uncommon in professional letters", said Dedi, Friday, August 27.

For information, in a copy of Agung Mozin's letter, he wrote "Dear son-in-law of my best friend M. Amien Rais: General Chairman of the Ummat Party, Ridho Rahmadi".

According to Dedi, political parties that were built by the family from the start will be vulnerable to conflict. Especially as a new party, the Ummah Party will find it difficult to move forward.

"Moreover, the preparation period for the 2024 election is approaching", he said.

In addition, Dedi views that the Ummat Party is not careful in determining the general chairman. Because Ridho Rahmadi is an unknown figure and does not yet have a record of political activists.

"So it is quite risky to lead cadres who have far more political experience", he said.

Dedi assessed that Agung Mozin's steps would be followed by other cadres if Ridho Rahmadi as chairman did not immediately take strategic and consolidated steps. Therefore, the Ummat Party needs to improve itself in the future after the abandonment of one of its founders, Agung Mozin.

"Immediately carry out internal consolidation, absorb all interests, and take accommodative steps, so that there are no further divisions", said Dedi.
