"Being Miss Universe Somalia and representing Somalia girls in beauty pageants is one of the greatest honors of my life. I will forever be grateful for the support that has been received from the community and the opportunity to open the door that was previously closed to us," he said.

Although he has been known as an icon that maintains the hijab in beauty pageants, Khadija emphasized that his life journey continues to grow. He faced many inner struggles before finally making the decision to remove his aurat cover.

"Today, I want to share a very personal decision, I have chosen to no longer wear the hijab. This decision is not easy, I have tried my best for years, faced inner struggle, and remain in deep respect for what the hijab represents," he said.

"However, I have reached a point where I am ready to embrace growth, change, and do things that feel right for me in this phase of life," he added.

Furthermore, Khadija also gave inspiring messages to other women, especially in Somalia. He emphasized that every individual has the right to choose his own path, including in terms of dress and showing himself in front of the world.

"For every Somali girl, every girl wears a hijab, this journey is her own. The way to choose to dress or present yourself in the world completely is my wife, not someone else. I see you, I love you, and I will always support the right to self-determination," he said.
