JEMBER - Creativity is one of the important resources in supporting children's growth and development. Through an open expression space, children not only learn to pour ideas and imagination, but also hone their confidence, ability to work together, and concern for the environment.
Various arts and cultural activities also become effective media to shape character and cultivate a love for local values from an early age.
This spirit is reflected in the opening of Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) which was started with the World Kids Carnival. This event is an inclusive platform for children to showcase their creativity while building character through the works they present.
"World Kids Carnival JFC is not just an annual carnival event, but a movement to build human resources through an inclusive working space for children," said JFC President Budi Setiawan when opening the World Kids Carnival in front of the Jember Regency Government Office, Friday afternoon.
According to Budi, this activity provides an opportunity for every child to develop their potential through creative works that can foster self-confidence, leadership, as well as being a spectacle that can be enjoyed by the public, both in Indonesia and abroad.
"World Kids Carnival is a place for children to show the results of creativity that has been prepared for months and at the same time to cultivate confidence from an early age," he said.
He hopes that this activity will be able to shape young generations who love Indonesian culture as well as spread the spirit of unity to children in various parts of the world.
"The main mission is to build children's awareness to love the earth and the environment through their fashion," he said.
The Head of the Jember Regency PKK Movement Team, Ghyta Eka Puspita, assessed that the involvement of children in the World Kids Carnival was one form of effective character education. According to him, the process of designing and making costumes can train creativity while instilling the value of responsibility.
"Children not only learn from what they are told, but also from what they see and feel, so let's make Jember child-friendly, environmentally friendly, and full of mutual cooperation," he said.
Hundreds of children's participants appeared enthusiastic along the carnival track wearing spectacular costumes that carried the theme of JFC this year, namely HEAL (Humanity, Earth and Life). The theme raises a message about the importance of restoring a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
The opening of the JFC series was then closed with a Pets Carnival which featured a parade of pets with their owners, adding to the celebration which was full of messages about creativity, environmental awareness, and togetherness.
