Kupang City Government Sets Sanctions For People Who Don't Vaccinate, Social Assistance And Services Are Postponed

KUPANG - The City Government of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara has imposed sanctions for residents in the area who do not participate in the COVID-19 vaccination.

"The Kupang City Government has set sanctions for residents who are not vaccinated. This is done to suppress the increase in COVID-19 cases", said Kupang Mayor Jefri Riwu Kore, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.

He said the form of sanctions applied to those who did not want to be vaccinated had been stated in the Kupang Mayor's Instruction Number 062/Bag.HK.443.1/VII/2021.

The sanctions given to residents who have not been vaccinated are in the form of delaying or stopping the provision of social security or social assistance received so far.

In addition, said Jefri, the postponement or termination of the provision of government administrative services starting from the Neighborhood unit level to the city level, such as ID cards, certificates, and other population administration until the residents concerned carry out vaccinations.

The mayor emphasized that the sanction was applied to residents of Kupang City who had been designated as the target recipients of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Jefri said the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in the provincial capital of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) until Tuesday, August 24, for the first dose of vaccination reached 181.403 people or 54.37 percent of the total target of 333.628 people, while the second dose of vaccination had been carried out on 121.679 people or 36.47 percent.

"The Kupang City Government is intensively conducting both the first and second vaccinations which are taking place at all health facilities in this area", said Jefri.

He hopes that the implementation of Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) which will take place from August 25 to September 7 2021 can suppress the increase in positive cases of COVID-19.

The Kupang City Government is still restricting various social activities to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
