Man In Balangan Stabs The Police While Being Questioned After Neighbour's Persecution, Finally Arrested By The South Kalimantan Tiger Team

BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Police (Polda Kalsel) arrested the perpetrator of the stabbing of a member of the Awayan Police, Balangan Police Brigadier Hermawan. This police officer was attacked with a sharp weapon and suffered a laceration to the head.

"The perpetrator with the initials NY (25) was arrested today in Kambiayin Village, Tebing Tinggi District, Balangan Regency," explained the Head of Sub-Directorate of 3 Jatanras Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the South Kalimantan Police, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Andy Rahmansyah in Banjarmasin quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 14.

The hunt for the perpetrator was carried out by the police for three days after the bloody incident at the Awayan Police Station occurred on Wednesday, August 11.

The victim, First Brigadier Hermawan, who was examining the perpetrator as a reported abuse case, was suddenly attacked with a sharp machete.

As a result, the member of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Awayan Sector Police was seriously injured. The victim was taken to the Balangan Hospital, then referred to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Banjarmasin.

The case began when the perpetrator was brought by his family to the Awayan Police Station on Wednesday, August 11, at around 16.15 central Indonesia time, for safekeeping after assaulting victim Rabadi (41) using a machete which the perpetrator slashed three times into the back of the body.

However, when in the Police headquarters terrace, the perpetrator suddenly attacked the police shortly after the family left the police station.

Members of the Awayan Police had chased the perpetrators who had fled but were unsuccessful. Others helped the victim who was badly injured in the head.

For this incident, the South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rikwanto through the Director of General Criminal Investigation Grand Commissioner Hendri Budiman ordered Team 2 of the Jatanras Opsnal Unit aka the South Kalimantan Tigers led by Police Commissioner Adjutant Endris Ary Dinindra to back up the Balangan Police to pursue the perpetrators.

The police had to go up and down the mountain looking for the perpetrators who fled to the hilly forest. Even up to the district of Hulu Sungai Tengah.

The joint team's hard work paid off. Three days through rough terrain in and out of forests and hills, the suspect was finally caught.

The Head of the Balangan Police, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Zaenal Arifin, expressed his gratitude to the team that has succeeded in apprehending the suspect and is now being held at the Balangan Police Station to account for his actions.
