JAKARTA - Finding a loving home for animals can prove just as difficult as finding a mate. A German animal shelter finds a new way to help animals find love and bring back abandoned pets.
The Munich Animal Welfare Association posted their profile on the dating app Tinder, in the hope that their lonely owners looking for love will also be content with the company of a cat or dog.
The shelter asked the ad agency to take professional pictures of 15 animals, including a black-and-white cat named 'Captain Kirk' posted on Tinder.
Jillian Moss of the animal shelter said some people had swiped right on Tinder to set up their first 'date'.
"The response was crazy, it exploded everywhere," Moss said.
The coronavirus lockdown is causing a spike in pet ownership. Animal welfare experts have warned that many animals may be abandoned as the pandemic eases.

"We hope this pet does find a new partner, the 'perfect partner' in the long term and not just for a few weeks," said Benjamin Beilke, who coordinates Tinder communications.
"There are not only lonely souls among humans, but there are also many lonely souls among animals," he concluded.
