JAKARTA - The Cianjur Regency Government in West Java Province has allowed the implementation of Eid prayers in mosques located in the COVID-19 safe zone, including areas without cases of coronavirus infection and areas with low risk of virus transmission.

"Not all areas in Cianjur are orange because many are already green and yellow, so for areas that are safe, they can hold Eid prayers at mosques with strict procedures," said Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman when contacted in Cianjur on Monday, June 28.

He explained that although Cianjur Regency as a whole is in the orange zone or a moderate risk of transmission, there are parts of the district that have a low risk of transmitting the coronavirus.

"Poor RT or RW with green or yellow zones are prohibited from carrying out Eid prayers. Elimination of Eid prayers only applies to RT or RW with red and orange zone status," he said.

He said that the district government would monitor the condition of transmission of COVID-19 and conduct an assessment of the risk of disease transmission before issuing permits for the Eid prayer in certain areas.

"The policy is in accordance with the implementation of Micro PPKM, where the assessment is based on the distribution at the lower level, but we still follow the central direction, but the policy is adjusted to the conditions at the lowest level," he said.

The Ministry of Religion has issued a circular regarding the implementation of Eid prayers and sacrificial worship on Eid al-Adha 1442 H/2021 AD.

According to a circular from the Ministry of Religion, Eid prayers may only be held in mosques or fields in areas outside the red and orange zones, high and moderate risk zones for transmission.
