Showcasing On How To Make Nusantara Vaccine In Front Of The House Of Representatives Members, Terawan: It's Like Cooking

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Health (Menkes) Terawan Agus Putranto exhibited the Nusantara Vaccine and how to make it in front of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). This he did when he attended a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII of the DPR RI.

Initially, he said this vaccine did not require a cold chain or refrigerator for storage. So, the vaccine against COVID-19 is easy to distribute to all regions in the country.

"This is in the form of a package like this, sir. I will reveal the contents later on how to make it. This is what the results will be distributed everywhere so there is no need for a cold chain for distribution. All these tools are enough", said Terawan while showing the vaccine package he was carrying, which was broadcasted on the DPR RI's YouTube channel, Wednesday, June 16.

The former head of the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital said that 90 percent of this vaccine uses ingredients that are locally available. In one box there are 25 ingredients used and only two ingredients are imported from the United States, namely protein antigen solution (IM-5124) and differentiation media.

"The contents of this box are like this. Nearly 90 percent of the production materials are already in Indonesia. They are even made in Indonesia. There are some that are made in America, so we still bring them (from America, ed) because we haven't got permits from the R&D to manufacture it, so it's still imported", he said.

Next, the package he was carrying was dismantled and Terawan demonstrated how to make the vaccine, which had been controversial some time ago. "It just needs to be opened, sir, it's very easy. It's very simple", he said.

"It's like cooking. But you have to know, if you don't, it will be considered very difficult", he added.

Seeing Terawan showing off how to make the Nusantara Vaccine, a number of curious members of the Indonesian House of Representatives came forward to his desk. Including the Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the DPR RI Eddy Soeparno.

"Please sir, this is actually good. Later, who knows, you can make it yourself too. It's okay. If you come closer, let me wear a mask", Terawan said while inviting the members of the council to take a closer look.

Furthermore, he said the vaccine had been tried by himself and his family. This also answered a question from one of the council members whether Terawan had been injected with the Nusantara vaccine.

"It's done. If it doesn't work, I don't dare to inject myself if I'm not sure about its safety. Including my children and wife", he said.

On that occasion, Terawan also emphasized that the Nusantara vaccine was not an American-produced vaccine, but a domestic one.

"So that's what it's been said that this is made by America and so on. So far, I've been silent about what to answer because that's what they think. Opinions don't need to be answered, but I can prove that it's like this", he concluded
