MOJOKERTO - One of the neighborhoods in Sidomulyo, Mentikan Village, Prajurit Kulon, Mojokerto City, East Java, was locked down due to the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Mojokerto City COVID-19 Vaccination Public Communication Officer, Gaguk Tri Prasetyo, said the Mojokerto city government held a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab test for 39 residents of the Sidomulyo neighborhood, Mentikan Village, Prajurit Kulon District.

"Those who underwent the PCR swab test were detected to have a history of close contact with 5 residents who were confirmed positive for COVID-19, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Rusunawa Cinde observation house", he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 15.

He said on Sunday, June 13, his party evacuated 5 residents of the Sidomulyo neighborhood, Mentikan Village who were confirmed to have COVID-19 to the Rusunawa Cinde observation house to undergo treatment.

"And today, we followed up on the expansion of tracing from 5 people who were positive for COVID-19. Based on the tracing results, it was known that 39 residents had close contact, so to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19, they had to be tested by PCR swabs", he said.

Because, he said, based on the results of the PCR swab test on dozens of residents, an analysis will be carried out to stop the transmission rate and reduce the number of new people infected by the virus.

However, he said, although the accuracy of the PCR test is quite high, this examination takes a long time for the results to come out, which is about 1-7 days, so that until now the test results are not known.

"We hope that the results of the PCR swab test can be known so that the follow-up can be faster", he said.

It is also currently deepening the history of patients who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. If the five patients who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 are due to frequent activities outside the city, it is necessary to know the status of the city itself.

"Because if it's a city with a red zone or an indication of a high case, then further anticipation is needed (for the City of Mojokerto)", he said.

He again reminded the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination.

"Vaccination aims to create herd immunity and individual immunity to the COVID-19 virus. So everyone must get the vaccine, whether they have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 or not", he said.

Including, he said, public awareness of COVID-19 must be increased with the discipline of the 5M health protocol.

"And if there are flu-like symptoms, especially those around who have been confirmed to have COVID-19, they must immediately go to the nearest health center or hospital, so that treatment can be faster", he said.

For the occupancy of the Rusunawa observation house, currently, 23 patients, including 1 Indonesian migrant worker (PMI), are occupied, while the bed occupancy rate (BOR) or the percentage of bed usage is 35.94 percent.
