89 Residents Positive For COVID-19 After Eid Celebration Evacuated To Dolopo Hospital

MADIUN - Madiun Regency Government (Pemkab) evacuated to the Dolopo Regional Hospital as many as 89 residents who tested positive for COVID-19 from the rapid antigen test results in Bantengan and Mojopurno Villages, Wungu District, Madiun Regency, East Java. They joined the local village celebration cluster.

"The first task is to localize so that there is no wider transmission. Dozens of residents were evacuated to undergo further examination or swab tests and isolation at the Dolopo Hospital, Madiun Regency," said Madiun Regent Ahmad Dawami on the sidelines of the evacuation, as quoted from Antara, Monday, June 14 night.

According to him, the dozens of residents were supposed to self-isolate in their homes after being tested for antigen quickly and the results were positive. However, Regent Ahmad Dawami took firm action by evacuating dozens of residents suspected of being positively exposed to COVID-19 in order to anticipate widespread transmission.

"The character of the residents here, the isolation does not stay in their respective homes. This is clearly a risk of transmission to other residents. Therefore, they must be isolated in the hospital. Besides, there are those who experience symptoms, but there are also those who are asymptomatic," he said.

To evacuate the dozens of residents, the Madiun Regency Government has deployed as many as 26 ambulances imported from a number of health centers in the local area.

According to the data, of the 89 residents who were evacuated, as many as 66 people were residents of Bulurejo Hamlet, Bantengan Village, Wungu District who attended the wedding celebration. While the other 22 people are residents of Kedungrejo Hamlet, Mojopurno Village, Wungu District, who are close contacts of the celebration activity.

While one other resident is a small child, who has not undergone a rapid test examination. However, due to experiencing symptoms of cough, runny nose, and shortness of breath, he was also evacuated.

Previously, the Madiun Regency Government found that 66 people were positive or reactive when conducting a rapid antigen test on hundreds of residents in Bantengan Village, Wungu District, Madiun Regency, East Java, on Sunday, June 13.

The rapid antigen test was carried out in order to follow up on hundreds of villagers who experienced symptoms of COVID-19 after attending the wedding celebration of one of the local residents last week.

After "tracing" by the Madiun District COVID-19 Task Force, an additional 22 residents were obtained whose antigen rapid test results were also positive because they were close contacts. Dozens of these residents are now evacuated and undergoing isolation at the Dolopo Hospital, Madiun Regency.
