Responding To Defense Of Rizieq Shihab's Son-in-law Who Considers Prosecutors Not Objective, Prosecutors: Instead, The Pleido Contains Accusations

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor denied the plea from Rizieq Shihab's son-in-law, Hanif Alatas, which stated that he was not objective and ignored the facts of the trial when deciding the charges.

This statement was made by the team of prosecutors during the trial with a replica agenda at the East Jakarta District Court.

"I deeply regret the defendant's plea stating that the public prosecutor is not objective and ignores the facts revealed at trial and focuses more on the statements contained in the BAP (police investigation report)", said the prosecutor at the trial, Monday, June 14.

In preparing the indictment, the team of prosecutors considered various things. Including the facts that emerged during the trial process.

Regarding the demand for imprisonment for 2 years in prison, the Prosecutor emphasized that based on the use of articles on spreading false news or Article 184 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 185 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

This article was used because Hanif Alatas was involved in spreading false news when he stated that Rizieq was in good health. In fact, Rizieq, who was treated at the UMMI Bogor Hospital in November 2020, based on the results of the PCR swab test, was declared positive for COVID-19.

"So that the information is valid as evidence as stipulated in Article 184 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 185 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This shows that the Public Prosecutor has objectively assessed the witness testimony", said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor called Hanif Alatas' pledoi to be baseless. This is because all the contents contained in the memorandum of defense are merely accusations.

"This is not based on concrete evidence and it seems that the defendant has never seriously paid attention to the trial that has been going on until now," said the prosecutor.

In his memorandum of defense, Hanif Alatas asked the panel of judges to free him purely. The reason is that the prosecutor's demands with a prison sentence of 2 years are considered not objective.
