Police Asked to Investigate Again the Case of Theft of Rp19.2 Million from a Bank Account

JAKARTA - The police are urged to investigate the alleged theft of Rp19.2 million from a BCA account. The demand was conveyed by Bangun Paulus Tudungta as the victim through his lawyer, Iskandar Halim Munthe after the investigation was stopped even though the alleged perpetrator had not been examined.

"The investigation was stopped before the party suspected of committing the theft was examined," Iskandar said through his statement quoted on Monday, June 28.

The alleged case began when Bangun Paulus Tudungta learned of suspicious transactions in his BCA account on February 17, 2026. In the range of 05.23 WIB to 05.40 WIB, based on the account mutation, a series of transfers and cash withdrawals occurred which caused a loss of IDR 19.25 million.

After tracing the location of the transaction, Bangun went to the minimarket where the ATM machine was located and watched the CCTV footage.

The recording shows someone suspected of being VL making a transaction at an ATM machine at the same time as the transaction recorded in the victim's account.

"In fact, there is evidence of transactions and CCTV footage that should have been tested through the examination of witnesses and the accused," said Iskandar.

Furthermore, Iskandar assessed that the termination of the investigation could potentially eliminate the opportunity to uncover the alleged criminal acts in a comprehensive manner.

According to them, the available evidence should be tested through a professional investigation and investigation process, not stopped before an examination of the alleged parties involved is carried out.

Therefore, Bangun Paulus Tudungta has filed a complaint with the National Police Chief, the internal supervisory agency of the National Police, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and 14 other agencies.

They asked that the report of the alleged theft be reopened, an examination of VL and all relevant witnesses be conducted, and the investigators handling the case be evaluated.

The lawyer emphasized that this step was taken to obtain legal certainty for the victim, "at the same time ensuring that the alleged criminal act is investigated objectively, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws," concluded Iskandar.
