JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has signed cooperation in the food sector. There are three Cooperation Agreements (PKS): ordering and purchasing food items worth IDR 3.9 billion.

In addition, there are also PKS in the form of industrial and trade cooperation and community plans for food needs. The cooperation is carried out as part of a series of 'Trade and Investment Missions' activities to improve connectivity networks between the two regions.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said this collaboration was important for the capital city. Because DKI Jakarta has around 17-18 percent of economic activity in Indonesia to be contributed throughout the country.

"On the other hand, we in Jakarta are a service city that has a dependence on commodities from outside the region, especially those involving very high basic needs. If it is calculated, it can be more than 98 percent of the supply of food needs", said Anies at the Bidakara Hotel, Pancoran, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 3.

From this collaboration, Anies admitted that he has divided tasks to SKPD (Local Government Agencies) to manage demand and BUMD (Regionally-Owned Enterprises) to manage supply, to ensure the size, quantity, and location.

So, he said, the distribution of supplies for the needs of Jakarta residents is more optimal and efficient.

"What does that mean? Needs are entrusted to the market mechanism when the Regionally-Owned Enterprises operates. We want this so that the markets in Jakarta can be fulfilled more and more every day. Then, the simplest indication of meeting supply and demand properly is when there is price stability, If inflation is under control, the impact will be throughout Indonesia", Anies explained.

Anies said East Java is one of the regions producing food needs in Jakarta, so the trade mission activity is highly appreciated by both parties.

"Hopefully this meeting can benefit all households in Jakarta and East Java. Don't forget, we meet today not only for higher profits, not just for bigger business opportunities, but in the end, it will bring social justice to all involved here", he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of East Java Province, Emil Dardak expressed his appreciation for the ongoing trade mission activities. Emil views that the cooperation between the two regions can strengthen the brotherly relationship between the two leaders.

"We are grateful for this opportunity to be able to establish friendships. This activity can strengthen trade relations as well as brotherhood. This is seen as very extraordinary. When combined, one-third of Indonesia's economy is in Jakarta and East Java. So, the closer the communication, God willing, the better," said Emil.
