Suspected As Burmese Military Regime Spy, 7 Administrators Were Killed

JAKARTA - At least seven administrators appointed by the Myanmar military regime were killed for allegedly also acting as spies against pro-democracy and anti-military coup activists in two separate locations.

Five civilians accused of being military informants from two villages in Gangaw, Magwe County were found dead on Monday afternoon, according to local residents. The anti-junta civil resistance group Yaw Defense Force (YDF) said it targeted the five men for cooperating with the military regime operating in the region.

"The bodies of the five people were found with an injured woman and a burning vehicle, between Ye Hla Village and South Khayan, about 32 miles from Gangaw", said a Yaw resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, cited from The Irrawaddy.

The five people who died consisted of two administrators from Sesa Hantharwady and Thintaw, a teacher, a nurse, and an administrative office employee under the Myanmar military regime.

“Teachers and nurses are on their way back with the administrators after they collect their salaries. Only one is alive, but he is seriously injured", Yaw resident said.

"The victims were targeted because they did not join the CDM (civil disobedience movement) of striking civil servants who refused to work for the military regime after the February 1 coup", said another resident.

However, a source close to the YDF revealed, a local civil resistance group, said the victims were targeted not only because they did not participate in the CDM, but because they were informants of the Myanmar military regime who had assisted the junta's operations in the area.

"They are traitors, traitors, and informants. They informed the junta troops about the civil service strike and got them arrested. They greeted the junta troops into their homes", the source explained.

The YDF said in a statement that they ordered the vehicle used by the victims to stop, following a security check after receiving information about the presence of explosives in the vehicle.

"The YDF stopped them to carry out inspections, but they refused and resisted. We heard the junta troops tried to arm Pyu Saw Htee members. They were transporting weapons. We took advantage", said a source close to the incident.

Locals believe that the six were spies belonging to the Pyu Saw Htee, a group that was founded and supported by the military regime, to fight pro-democracy activists and anti-regime protesters.

Monday's killing is thought to have its roots in an incident in Gangnaw on May 28 in which a number of regime soldiers were killed in a shootout with the YDF.

Separately, two suspected military informants from Thazi Village in Kale Township, Sagaing Region, were found dead with stab wounds at their home on Tuesday morning. Three villagers accused by their neighbors of being informants were reportedly attacked on Monday night and one managed to escape.

The two who died were Ko Pwar Gyi and Ko Ye Win. The latter one allegedly guided regime military forces into Thazi on Monday, leaving about eight villagers detained.

"Ko Pwar Gyi's family took his body this morning. It is not clear when they were killed. No one has yet collected Ko Ye Win's body. We heard three informants were targeted and one fled", said a Kale resident.

Earlier, two soldiers of the Myanmar military regime were killed and a civil resistance fighter was lightly injured in a gun battle in Thazi. Meanwhile, three bombs exploded outside a public hospital, CB Bank, and a 100-bed military hospital in Kale on Monday afternoon.
