Students Steal Friends' ATM Cards, Then Drain Tens of Millions in Bali

BADUNG - A man named Sumitra (22) who is a student was arrested by the Kuta Police Team, Bali. He stole an ATM card and then drained the victim's tens of millions.

"The total amount of the perpetrators took IDR 24 million with 4 transactions at the ATM Mandiri Raya Kuta", said Kuta Police Chief, Kompol Nyoman Gatra, Tuesday, May 25.

This incident was revealed when a victim named Slamet Sakirun reported to Kuta Police to make a report of the loss of Mandiri's ATM card on Wednesday, May 5.

"Then, after the atm card creation process is complete. At that time, the reporter asked to print out his account but at that time the results could not be taken", added Gatra.

On Thursday, May 20, the victim received information from Bank Mandiri about the printout of the account. There are 4 transactions with a total of IDR 24.3 million.

This transaction was reported to Bank Mandiri who immediately investigated the CCTV cameras. The case was then reported to Kuta Police.

From here, the perpetrator was arrested in Pudak Sari, Kuta. The perpetrator of the examination admitted to stealing the victim's Mandiri ATM card driven by motorcycle.

The stolen money is used to buy motorcycles, gold necklaces, mobile phones, rent rooms including index rooms sent to parents.

"The perpetrator knows the victim's ATM PIN, when they were both inside the ATM, one day before getting the ATM card. At that time, the victim took the money and the perpetrator was next to him", Kompol Gatra said.
