Rob Flood Peak In Jakarta Is Predicted To Occur On December 5 In These 6 Regions

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has asked people, especially those living in coastal areas of Jakarta, to be aware of the potential peak of coastal flooding or tidal flooding that occurred on December 5, 2025.

"Rob is predicted to occur on December 4-6, 2025, with a peak time of December 5 at 09.00 WIB. Residents in the coastal area of Jakarta are advised to be aware of sea level increase," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji in his statement, Thursday, December 4.

Isnawa explained that there were 6 areas that were mapped the most affected by tidal flooding, namely the Kamai, Muara Angke, Baywalk Pluit, Sunda Kelapa, RE Martadinata, and Blencong Marunda areas.

"Residents in these six areas are advised to increase vigilance and continue to monitor information from official information channels," said Isnawa.

The inundation and flood information channels managed by the DKI Provincial Government include the monitoring site banjir.jakarta.go.id, the JAKI application, and the DKI Jakarta BPBD social media.

Isnawa revealed that the potential for rob this week was compiled from information from the BMKG Meteorological Station Class I Maritime Tanjung Priok regarding the early warning of coastal flooding (rob).

Based on BMKG information, the potential for tidal flooding this time is due to the phenomenon of full moon and perigee (suprmoon).

"This phenomenon has the potential to increase the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta. The maximum tide peak occurs around 07.00 WIB-13.00 WIB," he explained.

Isnawa said that the DKI Provincial Government carried out a number of tidal flood mitigations on the coast of Jakarta, including alerting blue troop personnel (SDA Task Force) and hundreds of mobile pumps and pump houses in the northern area of Jakarta.

Then, coordinate with BMKG regarding the development of information on early warning of tidal flooding, then with the SDA Service, Gulkarmat Service, Highways Office, Satpol PP and village heads related to the readiness of personnel and equipment such as mobile pumps and stationaries to be ready to function to suck up tidal puddles.

In addition, ensuring the location of collection as well as supporting facilities and infrastructure for flood management in urban villages prone to tidal flooding such as boats, boat rings, buoys, life jackets, etc., is ready to function to help the community if needed.

"Then, provide emergency services 24 hours through Jakarta Standby 112 to help people who need emergency assistance," he added.
