BMKG Predicts Light Rain In Parts Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the majority of major cities in Indonesia are expected to experience light rain, with some thunderstorms, moderate rain, and thick clouds.

BMKG weather forecaster Davita said in a statement quoted that for Sumatra Island, light rain is expected to occur in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Tanjung Pinang, while rain is in the Padang area.

"Light rain has the potential to occur in Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung, then moderate rain in Jambi and Bengkulu," he said.

In addition, on the island of Java, it is estimated that it is thick cloudy in Yogyakarta, then light rain in Semarang, moderate rain in Jakarta.

"Then for the islands of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, it is estimated that they are thick cloudy in Kupang, then light rain in Denpasar and Mataram," he said.

As for Kalimantan Island, light rain is expected in Samarinda and Palangka Raya. He also reminded him to be aware of rain accompanied by lightning in Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, and Banjarmasin.

Furthermore, for Sulawesi Island, it is estimated that light rain will occur in Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, and Kendari. According to him, it is necessary to watch out for rain accompanied by lightning in Makassar.

"For eastern Indonesia, it is estimated that it is thick cloudy in Manokwari, then light rain in Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Jayapura, and Merauke," he said.

He also appealed to those living in Mataram, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, and Kupang as well as their surroundings to be aware of the predicted temperatures ranging from 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, especially for those who are doing outdoor activities.

"Residents should always maintain the stability of the body's fluids and use sunscreen," he said.
