LPSK Provides Compensation Of IDR 15 Million Per Family Of Terrorism Victims In Poso

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) distributed grief compensation to four families of victims of terrorism attacks in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

"Cash assistance of IDR 15 million for each victim's family. Total compensation of IDR 60 million comes from the LPSK budget", said the deputy. The head of the LPSK, Edwin Partogi Pasaribu, was quoted as saying by Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

Edwin explained that the compensation was given at a meeting with representatives of the victims' families at the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, Tuesday. The compensation has been regulated in Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of terrorism.

"We are carrying out the law's order", said Edwin.

LPSK has met with the families of the four victims who died, namely Paulus Papa, Luka Lese Puyu, Simon Susah, and Marten Solong.

Edwin said the LPSK team had been in Palu City since Monday, May 17, and met with the Central Sulawesi Police. As of Tuesday morning, his party has interviewed victims and witnesses in the incident that took place in the Pohu Mountains, Klimago Village, East Lore District, Poso, Monday, May 11.

"After handing overcompensation, LPSK plans to go to the location of the incident", said Edwin.

LPSK collaborates with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and the Central Sulawesi Regional Police in handling victims. LPSK focuses on fulfilling and restoring the rights of victims, for example, compensation and compensation.

Edwin stated that the form of protection from LPSK is based on requests from victims that are voluntary in nature. Protection will be given if there is a request from the victim and witness.

"They have applied the LPSK", he said.

From the petition, said Edwin, LPSK would look at the nature of the protection provided, including the level of threats to the victim's family to the legal process whether it was running or not.

Previously, four residents of Kalemago Village, East Lore District, Poso Regency were victims of the brutal attack by the Poso terrorist group. The location of the incident was around a coffee plantation in a hilly area about 1 hour away by motorbike from Kalemago Village.

The victims who worked as farmers daily were found by the family in a lifeless condition with their bodies full of wounds from sharp weapons.
