CENTRAL LOMBOK - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Central Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), investigated the case of the death of a 13-year-old student suspected of being a victim of bullying by his schoolmate.

"The victim was kicked by the perpetrator and hit a wall, then died," said Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Central Lombok Police, Aiptu Pipin Setyaningrum, when confirmed in Central Lombok, Antara, Monday, August 4.

The unfortunate incident occurred at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Janapria District, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. At that time, the victim and the alleged perpetrator, who were also minors, were involved in an argument after previously bullying each other in the dormitory environment.

After the fight incident, the victim was rushed to the nearest health center. However, his life could not be saved.

"The victim was taken to the puskesmas, but died," said Pipin.

Following up on the report, the police have summoned the alleged perpetrator, the head of the Islamic boarding school, and the victim's family for questioning.

Although no detention has been made, and the victim's family has accepted this incident as a disaster, the police confirmed that this case is still being processed legally. "This case is a general offense, not a complaint offense, so we are still following up," said Pipin.

The police said, based on legal provisions, the alleged perpetrator could be charged with Article 80 Paragraph (3) of the Child Protection Law, which is an act that causes children to die, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

"We are also still waiting for the results of the medical examination from the puskesmas to complete the investigation process," he added.

Aiptu Pipin appealed to the public, especially parents and teachers, to be more vigilant and pay attention to the behavior of children, both at home and in the school or dormitory environment.

“Penting bagi semua pihak, terutama orangtua dan tenaga pendidik, untuk lebih peduli terhadap interaksi sosial anak-anak agar kejadian serupa tidak terulang,” ujarnya.

"It is important for all parties, especially parents and educators, to be more concerned about children's social interactions so that similar incidents do not happen again," he said.
