Detain And Torture Civilians, CDF Kills Soldiers Of Myanmar Military Regime In Chin State

JAKARTA - The Chinland Defense Force (CFD) has again succeeded in making the troops of the Myanmar military regime in disarray, in the latest clash with eight Myanmar soldiers killed.

Quoting Myanmar Now, Wednesday, April 5, at least eight soldiers of the Myanmar military regime were killed in clashes from Sunday night to Monday night.

Formed in early April with ethnic Chin from nine cities in Chin State as well as from areas outside the state, the CDF has launched another offensive after the military ignored CDF warnings.

The CDF warned and asked the Myanmar military regime to release the 60 local residents who were detained. However, this was not implemented so the CDF launched an attack.

"They threatened the lives of those who joined the CDM. They interrogated civilians. They beat them. They made them do frog jumps and leave them in the hot sun," growled a CDF spokesman in Hakha.

"Those helping the military junta also inform people who are taking part in the resistance movement. The informants also make death threats against people. We are fighting against them so they will stop doing all these things," he stressed.

The first four soldiers died in combat at a checkpoint near the military post. Then on Monday evening at 11 pm, CDF fighters ambushed another checkpoint at the traffic intersection No. 6, killing four others and injuring 10 other soldiers.

"The fighting lasted for about half an hour. We attacked them when they weren't expecting us, so they didn't dare shoot us back," said a CDF spokesman.

The CDF claims there have been no deaths on its side in either clash. Myanmar Now was unable to verify the group's claim. A military spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Earlier, the CDF said it killed about 30 soldiers of the Myanmar military regime and suffered no casualties of its own, during the four days of battle in Mindat late last month.

Mindat leader of the anti-coup protest against the Myanmar military regime, Nway Oo Zalat, said the success of the CDF in making many Myanmar soldiers killed and detained was the factor of the sudden ambushes and raids that were carried out in mountainous areas.

"Because we are hunters, we are very familiar with our territory. We are also strong-minded in our beliefs. We are very united," he said.

Then, on Monday afternoon, eight military trucks traveling to Chin State along the Tilin-Gangaw road were attacked with homemade mines. Locals believe the truck came from Kalay and was heading for Hakha.
