Anies Baswedan Program's JakWIFI Budget Turns Out To Be IDR 6 Million Per Month At Each Point, There Are 1.183 Points

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has installed 1.183 points in a number of slum neighborhoods to Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) in the capital. The budget uses the unexpected cost (BTT) in 2020.

The installation of free Wi-Fi for residents has collaborated with the Telecommunications Network Providers Association (Apjatel) and PT Bali Towerindo Sentra since November 2020.

However, it was recently revealed that the costs incurred by the DKI Provincial Government for each JakWIFI point are too expensive. This is based on the results of the supervision of Commission A of DKI Regional Representatives Council (DPRD DKI).

"The JakWIFI fee is IDR 6 million per month per point. That's too expensive", said the Chairman of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mujiyono to VOI, Friday, April 30.

Mujiyono said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has a reason for the high JakWIFI budget. He said that the Wi-Fi used had high quality. The speed is up to 50 Mbps and the network is quite stable.

"But, when we had a recess, Commission A told us the signal was slow, it keeps buffering", said Mujiyono.

Then, Mujiyono found that the use of JakWIFI was not very effective. During the launch, Anies installed JakWIFI primarily to support underprivileged students so they can carry out online learning. In fact, many children and other residents use it for entertainment.

"Utilization by the community is less effective. Some are used to play games, some watch movies because of a lack of supervision", he said.

Therefore, Mujiyono asked Anies to evaluate the JakWIFI program, which was considered to be underutilized and lack of supervision.

"Commission A asked for a comprehensive evaluation by involving the Jakarta Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP)", he concluded.
