TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya Police revealed a case of selling counterfeit money through social media. The police confiscated paper evidence printed with Rp50 thousand and Rp100 thousand rupiah denominations in Tasikmalaya, West Java.

Hermawan revealed that the suspect admitted that this was the first time he had committed the crime of printing rupiah currency using a simple printing tool.

"The perpetrator used plain paper, the forgery was not very sophisticated, it was physically touched and seen, the quality was clearly not good," he said.

The suspect charged with Article 37 in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 7/2011 concerning Currency with the threat of life imprisonment and a fine of Rp100 billion.

The police appealed to the public to always be aware of the circulation of counterfeit money in the market, especially during the momentum leading up to Eid.

"People must be really careful when receiving money, check the quality of money received by being touched, stained, the original has a mark," he said.
