Former Central Lombok Regent Becomes Suspect Of IDR 1.5 Billion Fraud Not Detained

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police named former Central Lombok Regent Muhammad Suhaili Fadhil Thohir as a suspect in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of Rp1.5 billion.

Director of Criminal Investigation at the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Syarif Hidayat confirmed the determination of the former regent for the two periods as a suspect.

"Yes, the person concerned (Suhaili) is already a suspect," he said in Mataram, Tuesday, March 18, as reported by Antara.

Syarif explained that Suhaili's determination as a suspect had gone through a series of investigations that had found at least two pieces of evidence of alleged criminal violations that led to Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement and/or 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud.

Even though he has named Suhaili as a suspect, he ensures that there has been no step by investigators to make arrests.

"So, the determination of the suspect last week, but was not detained," he said.

For further legal proceedings, Syarif said that investigators had scheduled an examination of Suhaili in the status of a suspect. The summons for examination has been sent and scheduled for Monday (24/3).

"On March 24, 2025, the first summons as a suspect", he said.

Suhaili is a suspect in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of the police's follow-up to a report by a business colleague named Vega. Reports came in on July 15, 2024 numbered: LP/B/101/VII/2024/SPKT/POLDA/NTB.

This collaboration is related to the culinary business in the form of the construction of restaurants and fishing ponds in Pringgara, Central Lombok Regency, which makes the complainant feel disadvantaged by a value of IDR 1.5 billion.
