Densus 88 Secured Illegal Firearm Sellers In Malang

MALANG - The Densus 88 Anti-terror Team at the Police Headquarters secured a man from Malang Regency, East Java, selling homemade firearms.

Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko, confirmed that the Densus 88 Anti-terror Team made the arrest. However, Commissioner Gatot cannot confirm whether the AR suspect who was arrested is also part of a terrorist network.

"The Densus' activities are correct. However, the suspect is still being investigated whether there is any involvement with a terrorist network. So, he is still being arrested as an alleged illegal firearm seller", said Gatot as quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 22.

The suspected perpetrator was known to have the initials AR was secured by the Densus 88 Anti-terror Team on Jalan Sunan Ampel RT 4 RW 2 Putukrejo Village, Gondanglegi District, Malang Regency.

After being arrested, the Densus Team also conducted a search at the residence of the suspect AR. The search was on Wednesday, April 21.

Densus 88 is still developing investigations related to AR arrests. The development aims to ascertain whether the suspect is linked to an existing terrorist network.

"What is clear is that he is still in the development stage whether he is related to a terrorist network or not", said Gatot.
