UNICEF Concerned 13 Children Died Of Israeli Aggression In The West Bank Since Last Month

JAKARTA - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of Palestinian children in the West Bank due to the aggression of Israeli occupation forces.

On its official website, UNICEF Regional Director Edouard Beigbeder, condemned all forms of violence against children, calling for an immediate cessation of "armed acts" in the West Bank.

According to reports, 13 Palestinian children died in the West Bank during the first two months of 2025, including seven children who died since January 19, while 195 children died in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, which is an increase of 200 percent compared to the previous period, quoted from WAFA February 13.

Beigbeder pointed out that Israeli aggression, particularly in Jenin, caused widespread infrastructure damage, causing power and water outages, while thousands of families fled refugee camps.

He pointed out that education had been disrupted in about 100 schools, which had exacerbated psychological and social burdens on children, stressed the need to ensure safe access to humanitarian aid and protect civilians.

In addition, he also warned of a worsening crisis requiring the parties to comply with international humanitarian law and seek permanent political solutions.

As previously reported, Israeli forces backed by helicopters and armored bulldozers began an attack on Jenin, the West Bank on January 21, two days after the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel took effect.

Jenin is home to a overcrowded refugee camp inhabited by Palestinians who were expelled or fled their homes in the war in 1948.

The attack was marked by the destruction of houses, widespread property damage and severe impact on infrastructure in the area.

Estimates suggest nearly 90 percent of the camp's population has been forcibly moved, with many seeking refuge in 39 villages and cities across Jenin provinces.

This large-scale evacuation has put the area in a very urgent condition of humanitarian needs.
