Yusril Ihza Mahendra's Nephew Declaration Of Advances To Become A Candidate For Chairman Of The United Nations

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Court of the Crescent Star Party (PBB), Gugum Ridho Putra, declared himself to run as a candidate for chairman of the party for the period 2025-2030 during the election process at the congress which took place in Bali, 13 to 15 January 2025.

Gugum Ridho Putra is known to be Yusril Ihza Mahendra's nephew who is a former UN General Chair.

"We hereby declare ourselves to run as a candidate for the General Chair of the Crescent Star Party for the period 2025-2030," said Gumum during a declaration at the Asyana Hotel in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, January 8.

His decision to advance in the election of the general chairman on the grounds that party existence is decreasing. So, there needs to be a new breakthrough to improve it.

The Star Moon Party must continue to be the main exponent in voicing Islamic values that bring grace to the universe. The existence of the United Nations must reflect the spirit of strong Indonesianness and provide solutions to the challenges of the times," he said.

Gugum also reminded that after 26 years of existence since the reform era, the United Nations faces new challenges.

The rapid development of information technology and changes in voter demographics, which are now dominated by millennials and Gen-Z, requires parties to accelerate to remain relevant and strengthen their existence in society.

The young generation is the future of this nation and party. We must involve them actively, inspiring them to believe that politics is a noble way to improve the nation and state. The United Nations must have the courage to give space and trust to the younger generation to lead at the national and regional levels," said Gumum.

The declaration of Gugum Ridho Putra received a positive response from the young UN cadres who were present. They saw the vision and commitment of Gugum as a representation of the aspirations of the younger generation who wanted to bring updates to the party.
