The General Election Commission (KPU) of East Nusa Tenggara officially appointed the pair Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena and Johni Asadoma or Melki- Johni as Governor and Deputy Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) for the period 2025-2030.

"This determination was made after we received a letter from the Indonesian KPU Number 24/PL.02.7-SD/06/2025 dated January 6, 2025," said Chairman of the NTT KPU Jemris Fointuna when giving a speech when opening the open plenary for the determination of regional heads in Kupang, Antara, Thursday, January 9.

This is why so that the invitation to determine the regional head is carried out suddenly because it is only given three days.

He explained that the letter from the Constitutional Court instructed the determination of the elected candidate pair for regions that had no litigants at the Constitutional Court (MK).

Melki-Johni, candidate pair number 2, won the most votes in the simultaneous regional elections held on November 27, 2024, with a total of 1,004,055 votes or 37.33 percent of the total valid votes.

"We have received an official letter from the central KPU, so that according to the rules, this pair can be designated as elected governors and deputy governors," said Jemris.

The minutes of this determination were signed directly by the Chairperson and Member of the NTT KPU. The determination is stated in the Decree of the NTT KPU Number 22 of 2025 concerning the Determination of the Governor and Deputy Governor of NTT for the period 2025-2030.

Regarding the inauguration of the elected regional head, he said it was scheduled to be held on February 7, but his party was still waiting for further certainty regarding the inauguration.
