Climber From South Korea Who Disappeared On Mount Agung Found Dead

KARANGASEM - A South Korean citizen (South Korea) Kyung Dam Oh (31) who disappeared while climbing Mount Agung, in Karangasem Regency, Bali, was found dead on Friday (3/1).

Head of Denpasar Search and Rescue Office I Nyoman Sidakarya said the joint team found the victim at an altitude of 2200 Mdpl dead at 10.00 WITA.

"The SRU 1 team which moved from Pura Pasar Agung at around 07.00 WITA saw the victim's body face down when sweeping the hiking trail at Pasar Agung, the position of the body was approximately 100 meters below," said Sidakarya.

Then at 10.20 WITA, the other two teams moved to the position where the victim was found to confirm his condition and identity.

"It appears that there are open wounds to the head that may have suffered a hard impact on the stones," added Sidakarya.

The Karangasem Search and Rescue Post Coordinator I Gusti Ngurah Eka Wiad said the same thing. The victim is thought to have died after falling.

"The victim's position when his head was found below and his feet were above, he was thought to have died because he fell," he said.

Furthermore, the joint SAR team carried out the evacuation process and went down to the Pasar Agung Command Post. At 12.40 WITA the body was taken to Karangasem Hospital by ambulance.
