Mother's Day, Minister Of Religion Hopes Strengthening Women's Empowerment

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar congratulated Mother's Day to coincide with the celebration today, Sunday, December 22.

He hopes that this Mother's Day commemoration can have an impact on strengthening women's empowerment.

"I, Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque of Jakarta wish mothers a happy Mother's Day, especially to mothers throughout our country," said the Minister of Religion in his statement, confiscated by Antara.

Mother's Day in Indonesia is celebrated every December 22. This is based on the implementation of the Indonesian Women's Congress I in Yogyakarta, which lasts four days, December 22-25, 1928.

This year, the commemoration of Mother's Day raised the theme, "Women Greet, Women Empowered, Towards Indonesia Gold 2045".

The Minister of Religion hopes that this commemoration will not only be a ceremonial moment, but also a foundation for strengthening empowerment for women.

"We hope that this Mother's Day will strengthen women to be useful and can be more creative and to have power," he said.

"So, God willing, there will be gender equality, equality of roles between men and women. Thus, God willing, this Indonesian citizen will be stronger if half of the population named women are empowered as men," he added.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan said that women must be empowered so as not to become victims of violence.

"One of the root causes of problems that make women experience violence is economic factors and low education in the family. In fact, the most important element in empowerment is strong human resources," he said.
