KPK Waits For Bawaslu Report If There Is An Incumbent Using APBD Grant Funds For Regional Head Elections

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is waiting for a report related to a case involving the corruption of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) grant which is used as a campaign fund for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections campaign.

"Yes, if he pays incumbently using grant funds from the APBD. Then the grant funds are only given 50 percent, 50 percent is returned for campaign costs, that's what we can do. Even though it's through the regional elections, we can still investigate. Therefore, it is clearly detrimental to state finances," said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Alexander Marwata in Sanur, Denpasar, Bali, Monday, December 2.

But Alex admitted that he did not know whether or not there was a report to the KPK regarding the grant funds.

"I don't know, because if the report doesn't go through me, I don't know. So far there has been no information from the Dumas (community complaints) to the leadership," he added.

In addition, the KPK is also waiting for the Bawaslu report to oversee the alleged violation of the simultaneous regional elections and also waiting for the public to report the misuse of grant funds for the benefit of the campaign for regional head candidates who are competing in the 2024 Pilkada.

"KPK only exists in Jakarta. We do not monitor every election, and it is not the domain of the KPK to supervise. There are Bawaslu, Bawaslu areas, they are the ones who supervise. If they smell that there is a conflict of use of regional funds that is not true, they can report it to the KPK or other legal apparatus," he explained.
