JAKARTA - A total of 3 tigers roaming at the plantation area of residents in Nagari Koto Rantang District Palupuah, Agam, West Sumatra, and have preyed on two goats belonging to local farmers.

"There are three wandering tigers consisting of one adult tiger and two cubs that are also quite large. The goats here have been eaten", said Eka (35), a local resident in Palupuah, Monday, April 12.

He explained that Rasik's goat (60) was preyed on by tigers while being grazed in a plantation area in Koto Tabang which is one kilometer from the settlement.

"People here are restless because usually after eating goats and dogs, the tiger will disturb humans if it is not expelled", he said.

He added that at the moment residents cannot farm because of fear.

"Local people who used to garden and look for firewood in the forest also found footprints of the tiger", he said.

Meanwhile, The Head of Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Bukittinggi Resort, Vera Ciko said she had received reports about the appearance of tigers in Palupuah.

"We have received reports of the appearance of the tiger and the goat they ate. We'll do a follow-up today", she said.

The BKSDA, according to her, today will conduct a location check to ensure the existence of the tiger.

"According to standard operational procedures (SOP), we will first perform expulsion and then just set a trap afterward", she said.

Previously, the BKSDA conducted the expulsion of tigers that preyed on three buffalo in Nagari Tigo Balai, Matur Subdistrict last March.
