JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Candidate number 3 Pramono Anung admitted that he would seek DKI Jakarta's regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) to start conducting initial public offering (IPO) if they won the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

The target of making BUMDs listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) by Pramono is carried out so that the company owned by the DKI Provincial Government does not only depend on regional capital participation (PMD) from the DKI Regional Budget to carry out its operations.

"Part of the BUMD will be IPO so that public control is large. Don't be like now which is too comfortable, too delicious. It's more useful for whom, we don't know," said Pramono in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Thursday, November 14.

According to Pramono, DKI BUMD must be able to carry out the transparency of company policies. Through public control after the IPO, this can be done consistently.

"If then the experience that exists in the banking world, in any world, with an open IPO, the public supervision is tighter, it will definitely be better," Pramono explained.

For the record, currently there are 14 DKI BUMDs, including Bank DKI, Sarana Jaya, Pasar Jaya, PAM Jaya, PAL Jaya, Dharma Jaya, MRT Jakarta, Trans Jakarta, Jakarta Propertindo, Jakarta Tourisindo, Food Station, Jamkrida Jakarta, JIEP Pulogadung, and Pembangunan Jaya Ancol.

In the past, former Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno targeted at least 5 BUMDs to start conducting IPOs in the leadership of the Governor-Deputy Governor for the 2017-2022 period. However, this has not been done until now.

When the BUMD, which is majority or fully owned by the local government, conducted an IPO, the company began to be able to sell some of its shares to the public for the first time.

After the IPO process, BUMD shares were recorded and traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The IPO aims to increase the company's capital.
