YOGYAKARTA - President Jokowi has just formed the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) of the National Police. This Corps is under the auspices of the Indonesian National Police. So what are the duties and authorities of the police corruption eradication corps.

Kortas Corruption was inaugurated by President Jokowi through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 112 of 2024 concerning the Organizational Structure and Work Procedure of the Police. The Presidential Decree was signed by the president on October 15, 2024.

This Corps is the result of the development of the Directorate of Corruption Crimes (Dittipidkor) which was previously under the auspices of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police. The Corruption Crime Corps is no longer under the umbrella of the Police, but is the main task force that is directly responsible for the National Police Chief.

Based on existing regulations, the Corps is tasked with supporting the National Police Chief in efforts to foster, prevent, investigate, and investigate to eradicate corruption and money laundering.

"The Corruption Eradication Corps, abbreviated as Kortastipidkor, is the main element in the field of eradicating corruption under the National Police Chief," contained Article 20A paragraph (1) of Presidential Decree Number 122 of 2024.

In addition, the Corruption Eradication Corps also has a responsibility to trace and secure assets resulting from corruption. The Corps is led by a head with the rank of inspector general, assisted by a deputy head of Kortastipidkor, and supported by a maximum of three directorates.

National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that the proposed formation of the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) has been proposed since December 2021.

Listyo made this statement while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 2024 Police Rapim which took place at the Dharmawangsa Tribrata Building, South Jakarta, on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

"Everything we do is to really be able to provide the best service to the community, especially people who have not received special attention and services," said the National Police Chief.
