DPR Approves Herindra To Be Appointed As Head Of BIN

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives approved the Deputy Minister of Defense, Muhammad Herindra to be inaugurated as head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). The approval was taken by the leadership of the DPR together with a representative team from 8 factions after conducting a fit and proper test or a fit and proper test for the sole candidate for head of BIN at the Parliament Complex today.

"We have just led the DPR together with a representative team of all 8 factions in the DPR to consider or fit and proper related to the candidate for head of BIN on behalf of Mr. Muhammad Herindra," said DPR Speaker Puan Maharani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 16.

The inauguration of the Head of BIN is planned to take place after President-elect Prabowo Subianto officially becomes the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia on Sunday, October 20. Herindra, said Puan, will be inaugurated in conjunction with the cabinet minister of the Prabowo-Gibran government. "The results of the consideration team stated that Mr. Muhammad Herindra as the only candidate for the head of BIN, it was stated that we received it to be inaugurated in due course by the President who would later be sworn in on October 20, namely President Prabowo Subianto," said Puan.

But previously, continued Puan, the Indonesian House of Representatives would first hold a plenary meeting of approval of Herindra as the sole candidate to be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia as the head of BIN. The plenary meeting will be held on Thursday, October 17, tomorrow.

"God willing, the plenary session will state regarding the readiness that this prospective head of BIN will come, we will carry out the plenary session tomorrow Thursday," explained Puan.

After that, the leadership of the DPR RI will send a letter to the government to determine the day for the inauguration of the head of BIN.

"That when the inauguration will take place, we will hand it over to the government," said Puan.

The Indonesian House of Representatives advised Herindra as the new head of BIN to maintain the stability and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"And maintain consistency in how as a main task force BIN can work neutrally, then work not only inside, but also maintain its main duties to leave, meaning abroad," concluded Puan.
