Nawawi Pomolango Asks The Deputy Of The KPK To Coordinate With The Metro Police Regarding The Firli Bahuri Case

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango paid attention to the alleged extortion of former KPK chairman Firli Bahuri who did not show any progress. He even asked the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision of the KPK Didik Agung Widjanarko to coordinate with the Polda Metro Jaya.

This was conveyed by Nawawi in the middle of a year-end press conference which was held on Tuesday, December 17. Initially, he said he had asked Didik to monitor this extortion case because Firli and the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto were friends of his generation in the police force.

"That is indeed our appeal to the Deputy for Korsup. Which is it, Mr. Deputy," said Nawawi, starting his statement while looking for Didik who was sitting in a special chair in the KPK structural ranks.

"Incidentally, he is in the same ranks as Mr. Firli, the same person as Mr. Karyoto, yes, sir," he continued.

Receiving the request, Didik had nodded. Nawawi then continued his statement by reminding his subordinates to coordinate with the Polda Metro Jaya.

"We ask that to try to coordinate, supervise the old chairman's case because the articles that are suspected include articles regarding extortion," he said.

"So the alleged criminal act of corruption. We have asked the Deputy for Korsup to do not immediately supervise. We ask for coordination," continued Nawawi.

Nawawi said that the anti-corruption commission had the right to coordinate and supervise other law enforcement agencies. So, Didik should not hesitate in carrying it out.

"Because of the supervisory reasons, among others, the handling of convoluted cases cannot be accounted for," said Nawawi.

"Do it because it's the authority given by the law to the Corruption Eradication Commission," he said.

Previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya named Firli Bahuri, who at that time was still the chairman of the KPK, as a suspect in extortion on November 22, 2023. He is suspected of asking for money from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo who was named a suspect by the anti-corruption commission.

The determination of the suspect then made Firli resign from his position. Even so, the retired National Police general has not been detained and the case has no significant development.
