JAKARTA - The Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) is investigating the potential for brain laundering of militant jihad or terrorism against orphanage children managed by the Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings company.

GISB has been controversial in Malaysia for a long time because it is linked to the Al-Arqam group which was banned by the local government in 1994.

Police Inspector General Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said his party was investigating claims that children were shown a militant video while they were in an orphanage.

"The investigation is now heading towards it (the distribution of militant videos)," Husain said when contacted by Bernama, Sunday, October 13.

"These children were indeed shown a video related to their leader, Abuya, while they were on the beach," he continued.

Previously, Saturday, October 12, the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Affairs and Innovation Development Committee, Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, said that the idea of militant jihad was believed to have been instilled in children rescued by officers from an orphanage managed by GISB.

He said the application of these elements was carried out through video screening in their children's spare time.

According to Fahmi, the information was obtained from the Malaysian Royal Police.

GISB is known to be a company involved in cases of sexual harassment at dozens of orphanages in Malaysia managed by the company.

The case was uncovered after the Malaysian Royal Police rescued as many as 400 children who were victims of violence in orphanages on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

In the raid operation targeting 20 places in the two Malaysian states, 355 people including Ustaz and caregivers were also arrested.
