East Jakarta KPU Records High Number Of Voters In Gen Z Category In The 2024 Pilkada

The East Jakarta Umun Election Commission (KPU) ensures that the number of voters in the 2024 Pilkada in East Jakarta is dominated by novice voters or Gen Z.

"The number of Gen Z voters based on data is around 550 thousand. That's voters aged 17 to 25 years. So it's quite big, Gen Z in this election," said East Jakarta KPU Commissioner Carlos Kartika Yudha to reporters, Wednesday, October 9.

The number of Gen Z voters or young voters in East Jakarta has increased compared to the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, the number of Permanent Voters List (DPT) in East Jakarta is 2,374,828, there are 1,166,266 male and 1,208,562 female voters.

"With 550 thousand Gen Z voters, the figure is quite high. There is an increase for Gen Z beginners," he said.

Meanwhile, of the 2,374,828 DPT in East Jakarta, there are more categories of female voters than men.

"There are 1,166,266 male voters and 1,208,562 female voters in East Jakarta. So there are more female voters than male voters. The number of DPT is spread across 10 sub-districts, 65 sub-districts, and 4,144 polling stations," he said.

Carlos further said that socialization to novice voters continues to be carried out to introduce the regional elections to Gen Z in each school, university and community.

"We have held socialization in schools, student communities, students, and others, especially in students, we continue to go down," he said.
