Gus Yahya: PBNU Doesn't Block Anyone From Running In The 2024 Pilkada

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf emphasized that his party had never prevented anyone from advancing in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) contestation.

"Our rules are clear that we do not hinder anyone, including the NU management, from being involved in this regional election because this is their political right," said Gus Yahya, his nickname, when met by reporters at the PBNU Headquarters, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, October 9.

His party already has clear rules if there are NU cadres who advance in political contestation. If there are cadres who are mandaters or chairmen, he said, both at the central and regional levels, they must resign. However, if it is not part of the mandatory, then the person concerned is allowed to take leave.

"Chairmen or sharia raids must resign if they are officially involved, and if those other than them can take leave until the election procession is complete," he said.

Gus Yahya said that currently there are a number of names that have applied for leave or were disabled from the management, both at the central and regional levels.

Some of them are the Candidate for Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa and the Candidate for Deputy Governor of Central Java (Central Java) Taj Yasin Maimoen.

It is known that currently the 2024 Pilkada stages are entering a campaign period which will take place from September 25 to November 23, 2024.

In three days starting from November 24 to 26, 2024, it will enter a quiet period, then on the D day of voting on November 27, 2024.

The next stage is from November 27 to December 16, 2024, vote counting and recapitulation of vote count results in all regions of the 2024 Pilkada organizers.
