Puan Signals Unfinished Asset Confiscation Bill: There Are Next-Term DPR Members

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, gave a signal that the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) would not be completed in this period. The legislator's tenure for the 2019-2024 period is just a matter of time.

"This is a very short time. And later there will be members of the House of Representatives for the next period," said Puan to reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 10.

Puan said that her party currently prefers to focus on completing their work. The DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period will complete its working period on October 1.

So, the chairman of the PDIP DPP said that the legislator would finish the work which had already been delayed. "We will focus first on the things that we have to finish until October 1," he said.

"We'll wait until the next period changes while completing things that must be resolved," he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo encouraged the DPR to immediately complete the discussion and ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU). This step is considered urgent.
