Forward To The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, Rano Karno Resigns From Members Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The candidate for Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, has officially resigned from his position as a member of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period to participate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada competition.

The resignation is being processed by the Secretariat General (Sekjen) of the DPR through Certificate Number 388.F/KD/8/2024 dated August 27, 2024.

"Yes, that's right, we gave a statement that Pak Rano submitted his resignation letter," Secretary General (Sekjen) of the DPR Indra Iskandar was reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 6.

In the letter signed by Indra, it was written that Rano Karno stated his resignation as a member of the DPRRI for the 2019-2024 period.

"It is true that the member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia with Member Number 227 from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle faction for the 2019-2024 period who submitted his resignation and is in the process of dismissal as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives," the letter said.

He said the resignation might also apply to the resignation of Rano Karno from the DPR for the period 2024-2029, because Rano Karno was re-elected as a legislator at Senayan in the 2024 Legislative Election.

However, he said the certainty was to follow the letter sent by PDIP to the General Elections Commission (KPU).

"Yes, it should also not have participated in the inauguration of the new term of office, but it is related to the party's letter to the KPU," he said.

The candidate pair (paslon) for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, was recorded as the first pair to register at the DKI Jakarta KPU on August 28, 2024.

Pramono Anung-Rano Karno is one of the three candidates for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada.

Two other couples, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, were promoted by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus, and the couple Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana from the individual route.

The implementation of the regional elections to elect the governor/deputy governor, regent/deputy regent, and mayor/deputy mayor/deputy mayor will be held simultaneously in all regions in Indonesia on November 27, 2024.
