DPR Rejects Candidates For Supreme Court Justices, KY: Disrupting The State Road

JAKARTA - Member of the Judicial Commission Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata said that the proposal for a candidate for Supreme Court justices to continue to be postponed and not immediately appointed as Supreme Court justices could disrupt the country's path.

He said the need for candidates for Supreme Court justices, especially in special tax administration rooms (TUN), was urgent because the number of cases that came in was quite large, while there was only one Supreme Court judge of the TUN at the Supreme Court (MA) who had expertise specifications in the tax field.

"It can be imagined if the traffic jams, if [the case] is not decided, it means that no one loses, no one wins. Later the government will not get tax payments, if all disputed ones stop in dispute. It will interfere with the course of this country," Mukti said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 8.

Therefore, KY hopes that the advanced process of selecting candidates for Supreme Court justices in the DPR can continue to run well.

On Friday (12/7), KY announced nine names that passed the selection of candidates for Supreme Court justices and three names of candidates for HakimadhoHAM. Then the names were submitted to the DPR RI for a fit and proper test.

However, Commission III of the House of Representatives on Wednesday (28/8), agreed not to approve of the 12 names recommended by KY. Factions in parliament stated that there was an error in the selection mechanism because KY passed the ineligible candidate.

Following up on this, KY sent an additional certificate to Commission III of the DPR RI. The letter, which was signed by the Chairman of KY Amzulian Rifai on Wednesday (4/9), explained the reasons behind the discretion made in the selection of candidates for Supreme Court justices.

Mukti explained, KY did a discretion because he considered the urgency of the needs of Supreme Court judges in the Supreme Court. KY has also conducted a selection according to the laws and regulations and the decisions of the relevant Constitutional Court.

On the other hand, the KY Spokesperson also highlighted that there are only two candidates for Supreme Court justices, namely candidates for Supreme Court justices in the Special Tax Chamber who have not had 20 years of being judges. However, the DPR did not approve of all KY proposals.

"This is the first time we have been rejected. Usually everything is still being processed. That later there will be so many who pass, some do not pass, that is, please (please, ed.), that is the authority of the DPR. So, we need to explain to the public," he said.

Separately, Deputy Chairperson of KY Siti Nurdjanah said that her party would continue to coordinate with the DPR so that additional information submitted in the clarification letter could be considered.

"We know that the selection time for candidates for Supreme Court justices and prospective judges at KY has taken quite a long time, six months, and the costs incurred for this selection are not small," said Siti.
