Reveals That The RK Program To Build Apartments On Stations Is Not New, Sandiaga Reminds 5 Years Will Not Be Completed

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sandiaga Uno assessed that the program for the candidate for governor of Jakarta, Ridwan Kamil (RK) to build apartments on the station is nothing new.

Sandiaga said that the construction of the vertical settlement had become a plan when he accompanied Anies Baswedan to lead Jakarta. He also reminded that the construction would not be completed or 'finished' within five years.

"In the past, and this was not only Jakarta, but throughout the world," said Sandiaga at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, September 6.

Sandiaga explained that the program that was favored by RK in its time was known as Transit Oriented Development (TOD), which is a pattern of urban planning development that is integrated with the transportation system so as to create an efficient city.

The TOD area, he continued, combines for residential land, trade, services, offices, open spaces, and public spaces to make it easier for people and users to travel by walking, bicycles, or public transportation modes.

"The pattern of residential development is transit-oriented development (TOD). And we have compiled at that time that there was a Transit Oriented Development in rail-based transportation modes, based on mass rapid transits, and based on commuter trains at that time. And the first TOD was in Dukuh Atas, where there were 5 modes of transportation that intersected, we made regulations both underground and above land," he said.

Thus, he said, an urban setting pattern will be built or development rather than in integrated urban areas.

"So I believe that the direction is indeed there. To Transit Oriented Development, TOD," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf).

Moreover, Sandiaga added, the MRT will be extended to the North Jakarta area and is also in the process of being groundbreaking which is west to east.

"And he said he wanted to extend the south to South Tangerang. So it has become a plan and will not be finished for 5 years, 10 years, maybe 15-20 years because Jakarta will go to global cities," explained Sandi.

Previously, the Jakarta Cagub, Ridwan Kamil, had responded to the assumption that the idea of an apartment above the station was unrealistic. RK ensured that the program was one of the things he would realize with Suswono if he was chosen to lead Jakarta.

The former Governor of West Java said that he felt it himself when he lived in Hong Kong. According to him, at that time his apartment was on the station.

"Seorang Ridwan Kamil selama dua tahun dari 2001-2003 tinggalnya di apartemen di atas stasiun, jadi saya bersama akhir Eril (anaknya) di Hong Kong tinggalnya di atas apartemen yang ada di atas stasiun. Produktif sangat hidupnya, turun ke bawah langsung kemudian ketemu stasi seleta kan, pulang juga sama," ujar RK Jakarta Pusat (Jakpus), Kamis, 5 September.

RK emphasized that the programs were not based solely on desire, but thought carefully about what would be done to fix Jakarta.

"So it's very realistic. The point is not about the number of stations, the important thing is that land in Jakarta is expensive, so where there is an opportunity for land to be diversified for people's housing, social housing, such as Pak Prabowo's aspirations and directions, we do it. That's why it's on the station," he concluded.
